French car recycling expert Indra Automobile has won a tender in Morocco, in partnership with Deloitte, to design a end-of-life vehicle waste management operation by the end of this year. Ultimately, the goal of this initiative is ‘the creation of a legal car recycling sector’ in Morocco.

‘Winning this tender in Morocco offers us a tremendous opportunity to support a country in the organisation of its automotive recycling industry,’ comments said Loïc Bey-Rozet, general manager of Indra Automobile Recycling. He is confident that the ‘major project’ will open the door to doing business with other countries on the African continent.

 What’s the master plan?
The two winners of the call for tenders are entrusted with a mission to diagnose Morocco’s car recycling situation as it is now. Also, the companies have been requested to come up with a ‘master plan’ to determine, in collaboration with the government, how to achieve the best car recycling results.

350 000 cars a year

Indra Automobile Recycling is based in Villefontaine and is owned 50-50 by Renault and Suez. The business employs 174 employees and had a turnover of EUR 45 million last year.

Curently, the company runs a network of 350 used vehicle centers. Last year alone, Indra was able to dismantle and process more than 350 000 cars in France – managing a recovery and reuse rate above 95%.
