The Smart Water Networks Forum (SWAN), the leading global hub for the smart water and wastewater sector, has formed a new strategic partnership with British Water to further stimulate the growth of the smart water sector across the UK region.
With the start of a new decade marked by an increased need for sustainable and smart water technologies, regulatory compliance targets and innovation-led funding opportunities spearheaded by Ofwat, this exciting announcement comes at an opportune time.
The two organisations will also collaborate at the upcoming SWAN 10th Annual Conference focused on “Moving Beyond Data to Value Creation.” This event will be held virtually through Zoom from 22-24 July 2020, with two pre-Conference workshops taking place 21 July 2020 on cybersecurity and Digital Twins. Registration is now open here.
This partnership will build off of each organisation’s respective, active membership pool and active efforts to bridge together utility and supply chain stakeholders. From SWAN’s Digital Twin H2O Work Group to British Water’s Data & Analytics Focus Group, there are many areas for collaboration that can serve to further complement the efforts of industry thought leaders.
“We are thrilled to partner with British Water, a recognised leader in the UK water sector bringing a coherent voice to the industry. Many of our members actively participate in British Water events and contribute to relevant research deliverables,” said Amir Cahn, Executive Director of the SWAN Forum.” “We believe that we share the same vision of creating and sustaining a smart and resilient water future. Industry collaboration will be key, especially during these trying times.”
Commenting on this recent partnership, British Water’s Chief Executive Lila Thompson remarked, “This is an exciting and important partnership which will further build on British Water’s strong relationship with The Smart Water Networks Forum. Data analytics, sensors, artificial intelligence and robotics will change the landscape of the water industry in AMP7, supporting leakage detection, flood resilience, asset management and water resource planning. The supply community has a major role to play but only through close collaboration will the sector be able to take full advantage of the options available, address key challenges and meet regulators’ expectations. We look forward to working together to drive the UK’s smart water sector.”
