Plastics are integral part of modern society and often make the impossible possible. However, the recalcitrant nature of fossil-based plastics coupled with a single-use throwaway culture release them into the environment results in negative environmental consequences.
Bioplastics emerges as an alternative to fossil-based plastics in a number of applications, however several challenges have to be addressed before bioplastics can be widely adopted and meet the economic and environmental standards that will justify their wider use.
The demands are more severe for replacing the fossil-based plastics with bioplastics and only few polymers succeed to meet these requirements. In his talk, Ramesh BABU, principal investigator at Amber Research Centre and in Dublin Trinity College will address his and his team’s recent work in designing the biodegradable polymer composites that can degrade in multiple environments and approaches for upscaling the recycled bioplastics.

You can meet Dr Ramesh BABU and more world-leading experts in Green Chemistry and White Biotech at our International Conferences on 8 & 9 May 2019, at ULB Centre Point in Gosselies (South of Brussels) – Belgium

The aim of the conferences is to make an inventory of innovative technologies and valuation approaches of green chemistry and white biotechnology activities in the world, to share knowledge and foster the creation of new research and development projects, in both sectors. In 2019, the focus will be on polymers, from alternative raw materials to ecocircularity of those polymers.

Germany will be this year featured country !

The conferences programme is available here.
