The new operation will be based in the South Yorkshire area of the UK. This puts Metallix within close reach of existing European clients while allowing the recycler to broaden its network. Metallix says expansion from the US was necessary because of the strong global demand for precious metals.
Platinum, for example, is forecast to grow 5% worldwide this year, according to the World Platinum Investment Council. Meanwhile, an acceleration in autocatalyst recycling is likely to result in a 3% increase in recycled platinum supply.
Ratliff is supported by global operations manager Gavin Wigley who calls the new European branch a ‘bright and exciting opportunity’. In previous roles, Wigley managed upwards of 130 precious metal recovery projects in more than 30 different countries.
‘With the opening of Metallix Refining Europe, our ability to provide the best precious metals recycling and recovery choice for our customers, not only in Europe but globally, is beyond compare,’ adds president Maria Piastre.
