Environmental services firm Tradebe has bought Avanti Environmental Group from Stericycle, in what it said was its second significant acquisition in 2018.

Avanti operates treatment and transfer sites in England and Scotland, owns a fleet of vehicles and employs more than 140 people.

It has specialist services for the laboratory and automotive markets and a plastics recycling division.

Tradebe earlier this year bought Leicestershire-based Labwaste, a specialist in the collection, treatment and disposal of laboratory waste.

UK chief executive Rob Molenaar said: “The combination of Tradebe, Labwaste and Avanti will provide a strong platform capable of servicing and meeting the changing demands of our customers.

“The companies are aligned in terms of service operations, capabilities and geographical reach. This partnership will bring together some of the most technically minded, innovative people in the UK’s waste industry.”
