The volume of paper and cardboard packaging being recycled in Europe has reached ‘a record high’, according to the European Union.

Across the 28 countries of the EU, the rate for recovered paper and cardboard packaging reached 85.8% in 2018. This is the highest recycling score in the study’s history. The largest of all the packaging materials by weight, metal and glass, came in at second and third with recycling rates of 78.3% and 74.1% respectively.

Meanwhile, the results of a recent study by the German university Technische Universität Darmstadt prove that cartons can be recycled up to 25 times.
